We drove home from NY this morning and I spent time chasing a bee around the geraniums for a few minutes to take my mind off this hurricane. (have a look in large).
One of my sons and his family have evacuated to Charleston as they were quite vulnerable on the West Coast. The family members on the East Coast have caught a break with the hurricane's change of direction but they are still getting pummeled. Another son and family are more towards the central part and the hurricane's full force hasn't reached them yet but they are away from the eye and in secure buildings.
As we were driving home from NY we saw convoy after convoy of electric power company trucks from New York, New Jersey, and Delaware all headed to Florida. My son, in his travels to Charleston last night, said they must have seen at least 1000 trucks headed south as well. Once the hurricane passes, they will be in position to restore power as quickly as possible. The loss of power is expected to be massive.
