Looks Like We Dodged A Bullet
Starting earlier today, all the models are showing the path of Irma to go straight up through Florida, then continuing a westward turn in Georgia, then possibly Tennessee.
What this means for us at this point is a big miss for us here in South Carolina. A huge difference when just two days ago we were shown as having a better than 50% chance of a direct hit right on us.
Of course the bad news is that since Irma did not go east out over the ocean, if we are not going to be clobbered, than somebody else is. We feel bad for them.
We will still get effects, but those are likely to be on par with a bad thunderstorm.
We can live with that.
It was once again a beautiful day here today. Some folks (such as this cycling pair) were out enjoying the beach today, but other parts of it were empty.
We went over to the Marshwalk this evening and the goats were gone, having been removed yesterday as a precaution.
We are also no longer assuming it will be destroyed as we previously feared.
Our relief is incredible. This has been a nerve wracking and anxiety producing 10 days.
I guess we will have wind and rain sometime Monday leading into Tuesday but at least I'm no longer concerned or convinced that our home will be destroyed and we will lose everything.
We were especially concerned for the cats as many shelters and hotels will not accept pets.
Oh, and Sammy caught a dove that accidently found it's way on to our back screen porch. What a scene that was.
So for now our thoughts and prayers are with the millions of people that will be hit hard in Florida.
I think I can sleep tonight, maybe, hopefully.
Thanks again blippers for all your positive words of concern, it was greatly appreciated.
