Aw Shucks

Derry Clarke shuck my oysters for me today! Yep indeed, at the BBQ he hosted on Sherkin Island as part of The Taste of West Cork Food Festival. 

I followed the signposts/menus at the crossroads that led me to The Islander's Rest and the BBQ was in full swing.  I had more meat for lunch today than I usually have in a week.  A walk in the sun to cow strand in the photo above followed lunch before returning to the mainland.  As the ferry filled up I was reminded why I love staying on islands; because most other people leave.  Maybe next time.  

All of this after the largest breakfast menu I have ever come across I think.
