A hotel staircase

We arrived in Paris this evening in pouring rain - and the traffic from the airport was horrendous. I guess that is normal on a Friday night. Luke advised taking a taxi rather than changing trains with our luggage but it was so slow it may have been better to get the train.

We are staying in a very smart hotel - quite different from the romantic but tiny garret we stayed in 24 years ago for our honeymoon! It also happens to be Paris Design Week so it is very busy at the moment. 

The rain prevented me from taking any photos - I had planned some night  shots but it was raining quite heavily and it was so late by the time we got to the hotel that it just did not happen. Instead, you have a staircase in the hotel (leading to the gym) - much worse than some night scenes of Paris but possibly better than the alternative of photos of the hotel corridor!

Tomorrow will be brighter and we plan to walk all over Paris. Luke is on a cooking course until after lunch. Knowing of his love of cooking some friends jointly gave him this cooking course as a 21st present, which was a brilliant idea. I think he starts early by going to the market with the chef to select the produce, and then they go back and cook it - what fun!
