Segway through bike

As we have a late flight back to Helsinki, we have had a whole day to amuse ourselves on what turned out to be by far the best day, weatherwise. We've walked a very long way (north of 20k steps), interspersed with coffees, lunch and drinks in various locations). We started off in the main square with coffee, where I captured this image. I've added a few extras capturing some of the spirit of Krakow for me.

We passed through the old town, the Wawel castle area (where we body-swerved the big queues for tickets to see the castle and the cathedral and just took a few photographs from the parapets), the Kazimierz area (including lunch back at the Introligatornia Smaku), and finally the Podgorze area across the river. We wandered as far as the Oskar Schindler factory, now a museum, but again didn't go in, but pottered around taking photographs in different places. When I'm back in Helsinki I'll put an album together for flickr. I think we saw another face of Krakow today that wasn't so horribly touristy, but as we sat having one final drink in the main square in the early evening sunshine we agreed we were happy to be leaving just as the real weekend hordes of tourists were arriving.

Now we're sitting in the lounge waiting for our very late flight which, combined with the loss of an hour as we head back to Helsinki, will see us in our beds in the middle of the night. The plans for tomorrow are for very light exercise indeed!

Update: here's a link to my flickr album.
