Odd Day

Today was a top ten day weather wise.
Sunny, bright blue sky, not too hot, and fairly low humidity.

So we decided to take the bike out to run a few errands because, well, who knows...?

We rode over to the Marshwalk to take a look around because, well, who knows...?

The goats were still out on Goat Island but will likely be removed this weekend.

Part of what made this an odd day was the normalness of it all. People were all just out doing their thing as if nothing could possibly drastically  change their lives forever in a few days.

It was kind of refreshing actually. 

We talked to the owner of The Mullet Hut and he was a bit comically put out because everyone has been inquiring about bar manager Mullet the cat but no one was asking how he was fairing. 

I'm going to be storing the motorcycle off site and hope for the best. 

At this point we are seriously debating staying put in our home and also hoping for the best.

No way to tell if this is a wise decision or not but we will find out when we find out.

I have an older brother that lives about 10 mins. from us and they are bailing out Sat. morning with hotel reservations in a western North Carolina hotel.

Part of our conflict with evacuation is our two cats which don't need a three hour drive turning into a 12 hour drive with traffic.

What I'm also not looking forward to is the large pine tree behind us coming down on our house at 2 am. I'll be out there in the dark with my hand saw during a hurricane.

With mandatory evacuation it doesn't mean you are forced to leave, it only means that if you don't leave you can't call for help later and expect anyone to arrive.

However...we received a *tiny* bit of  good news earlier this evening when the National Hurricane Service released a model showing the storm's path heading inland somewhat in Georgia and weakening after leaving Florida.

I don't want to at all wish this on others, but it's human nature to hope we don't get seriously blasted.

So still we wait and see. Effects may reach us early Sunday morning into Monday.

Another odd thing is that's it's supposed to be an absolutely beautiful weekend. Unreal.
