Always I got such a fright.
When your Son is far away, and it's his birthday, it's always important to get him gifts which remind him of his roots.
So we sent him a box of Tunnocks Snowballs.
This time 26 years ago, Son, you hadn't quite made your entrance. Every doctor and midwife on duty over the course of that last 10 hours had told me that you had a lovely head of hair but none of them could tell me what colour.
That is because you were hanging off my rib cage with your toes, so determined you were to stay in the place you had lived for TEN MONTHS.
Eventually with the combined might of everyone on duty at the one time, pulling really hard on the winch they attached to your head you came out.
and the pain, and the blood and the gore was worth it.
Happy Birthday First Born. It was lovely spending time with you and all your colleagues today - I'm so sorry for them all.
Enjoy Your Helmet, and your Flute - I'll get back to practising "Last Night...
