Smoke in the sky

We went into Duncan today for G's eye appointment.  The smoke in the air was incredible, and the entire southern half of BC is now under an air advisory alert.  The sun was a ball of orange in the sky.  I don't know why the camera doesn't pick up the colour in the sun, but the clouds have an orange tint from it.  There's a plane in the upper left corner, barely visible.  The light has been so eerie all day and it's dull and much darker than it should be.  I took the extra while we were waiting for our ferry home, and we could barely see the opposite shore.  Our breathing has been okay, but we can feel the smoke stinging our eyes.  It might clear up a bit tomorrow and we may get some rain on the weekend.  I don't know how people who are much closer to the fires are coping.  
Hurricane Irma - how scary is that?  Thinking of everyone who's being affected by that incredible storm.
