Training Day
Today started nicely with coffee and cakes followed by a tour in the falconry centre. My favourite bird is pictured here, Travis a Striated Caracara. Sent the teams off for the scavenger hunt and only one moan this year from those resistant to team bonding! A lovely lunch, well done to the catering team and then the obligatory stuff such as radio refresher and child protection. So far so good! On to the new workshop, and yay! They came up trumps with a title - new workshop to The Monarchy and More. It was quite well received, I think. And then it all went to pot. Still not sure how or why but one of the newbies seemed to think no one needed the section with tips and advice on strategies for gaining attention. Why did it escalate with the others joining in and then muttering at the back, clearly unhappy with my reasoning.
For the first time since I had the manager role I came away from a training day feeling deflated and seriously questioning whether or not to pass the day's training over to the Training Officer. Have resisted in the past, because our training is so specialised, but am not thinking I want to do it again.
Going to sleep on it!
