God Save The Queen

The royal party standing to attention for the National Anthem, before the Cutting Of The Ribbon (extra, from the big screen) to officially open the Queensferry Crossing.

We joined the crowd on the bridge overlooking the access road, and were then informed that a viewing area was available nearer the event, so hundreds of us trooped down what will be the off-slip to motorway level to await the arrival of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and, on one of his last public appearances, the Duke of Edinburgh.

The atmosphere was jolly, (extra 2 shows a less formal view), cameras both professional and amateur, bands ditto, the Royal Company of Archers, a blessing by the Moderator of the Church of Scotland and a flypast by the Red Arrows completed ceremony at the southern end, before the party moved off across the bridge.  We took a last opportunity to stand on the bridge for ourselves (extra 3) .

Even the weather behaved itself, with rain waiting until the task had been completed.

A day to remember for all involved.
