Etretat

The cliffs at Etretat were a favourite subject of Impressionist painters, most notably Monet, who painted version of this view hundreds of times - almost as many times in fact as I photographed it today.  The rock formation is said to resemble an elephant dipping its trunk into the sea. Further entertainment was provided by this chap, struggling to turn his boat around. The rocks at the opposite end of the bay were impressive too.

Later we went to Honfleur for fruits de mer in a busy harbourside restaurant. I enjoyed the reflections in the harbour and was honoured to meet this intrepid wildlife photographer.
