A trip to Manchester for pre-holiday purchases. 

I hope this is not a sign of things to come: already for our trip, I have had one restaurant and one hotel cancel reservations, the former for medical reasons and the latter because of an error (by them - I booked the room in March.) This is my first visit to France in over a decade.  In the last 10 years I have, booked over the internet, at least 25 days travel each year in countries all over the world with not a single problem. I hope there are no more.
