Elephant in the room?
Well, an Elephant Hawk Moth Caterpillar in the garden........two of them actually!!!
I was having five minutes breather, sat down in the garden, took my sandals off, put my feet up, with a cup of coffee......my eyes were drawn to something black in our Hawkshead fuschia bush.....if you look at the extra, you can actually see one of them on the right!
Quickly jumped up to investigate, a massive caterpillar, then I saw another one, both about the size of my index finger!! Ran indoors for my camera, (not sure why I ran, caterpillars are not known for their speed as far as I know ;-)
I did google it to ID it, it turns into the most amazing olive green and pink moth......not a fan of moths, but have to admit it is quite fascinating. Hub has moved them to anoter part of the garden, so they dont decimate our little fuschia shrub :-)
A busy old day.....early walk, papers, a read of them.......brunch was fried tomoatoes, green chillis, mushrooms and halloumi cheese, on seeded brown toast.....sounds a bit mad I know, but was delish.....just a case of using up what we have left in our fridge for the next day or two.
Hubs cut the lawn this afternoon, I cut our laurel hedge, down the side of our house between us and our neighbours, who we quiz with. It had got way too high, so it was a ladders, loppers and shears sort of job...hard work, worked up quite a sweat, but it looks so much better now!!
Trimmed the wisteria back of all its wandering wispy strands too. Tidied up all the hanging baskets, troughs, tubs, I was thinking of binning the baskets before we go away, but they are still flowering so it seems a shame to!
Maybe I will wait until we are back, they will be on their last legs then!!
I'm making a Thai red chicken curry for dinner this evening with rice, think Id better get on with it now.
