STEMMING THE FLOW

Our drive is a bit lower than the lane and today we've had a lot of heavy rain - torrential at times - so it's flooding. Warned by a similar thing a few months ago I had a couple of made to measure planks in the porch and a so-called tarpaulin. Fitted across the doorway with the blue tarp in between them and weighed down at the front to stop water getting underneath, it's worked fine so far with just a minute trickle getting through.

Added next day: Turns out the drain was almost totally blocked even though cleaned out only a few days before. Just leaves and so forth. Now it really is clear.
