It's that time of year...
You may recall the sugar cane fire I blipped recently, when I had accidently set the camera to fish-eye lens. The main point of the photo was to show the way in which the sugar cane is burnt, to make it easier for harvesting.
This morning when I looked down into the valley, there was a truck with huge bins on the back, collecting the harvested sugar cane, so I used my super-duper zoom on my camera to show you the next stage of the process.
It isn't the greatest quality photo of all time, but it does have rather a "painted" look about it, which I think is quite nice.
From here the cane will be taken to the sugar mill, where it will be turned into sugar!
In other news, it is that time of year again...time to make Christmas cake!!! Can you believe Christmas is only 3 months away? Where did the year go?!
Today I have chopped the dried fruit which will be left to soak overnight in alcohol. I'm making 2 cakes, so one is in brandy and the other in muskat.
Tomorrow will be baking day. :)
