Before the AGM

People! More people than I've seen here all summer at once. It's the annual general meeting for the island holding company that was formed to deal with issues about the small community dock and barge landing. A few islanders didn't join. About halfway down the island ( 30 minute walk for us) it faces west to Trincomali channel and Saltspring island. As much as we might complain about it ( we don't HAVE to go) this is the core group that bought and built on their land 25 + years ago, make up a quorum for voting, and it's lovely to see them and chat. No one is getting any younger. The potluck lunch after was fabulous. Except for a very few, we won't see them again til next year. Our nearby neighbors never go, but pay their dues and send us with their proxy. Such is "community" on this little island.... But if one needed help, it would be right there. The people are splendid!
