The Sun goes down
As i've been using the camera more as of late i've made a promise to use Blip more, although can't promise daily, but we'll see, so here goes.
Standing in the centre of the town where i live is an old hotel, The Sun. Early records show The Sun occupying this spot since the 1830's but it's likely to pre-date that by some years, in it's current form i have seen photo's of Victorian men in photo's dated 1896 propped up against the walls of this building, for at least 187 years this building has shared the burdens of inebriated souls, bore witness to countless acts of infidelity and watched on as relationships are forged, there have been fights, wedding receptions, laughter and tears and for the people of my hometown it's guarded their secrets and those of their ancestors for generation after generation.
Tonight it is to be pulled down, in it's place a Travel Lodge, a symbol of the modern era! i took my 5 year old to watch a piece of the town's history vanish, and 1 hour before demolition took this snap, maybe when he's old and sitting with his grandchildren he can show them this and say, when i was a boy this is what stood where that Travel Lodge is.
