Abandoned
Today whilst at work i was given the fantastic opportunity to photograph a recently decommissioned mill at a Steelworks, this is a mill that for the past 3 years I've spent many hours working in and around, You never truly appreciate the scale of a place like this until you are alone in it! to say it's a cathedral of industry is an understatement.
On the way home i found it poignant that on shuffle through my i pod came a song about the decommissioning of steel mills in America with the lyrics
"These mills they built the tanks and bombs
That won this country's wars
We sent our sons to Korea and Vietnam
Now we're wondering what they were dying for"
Although these decommissioned mills create rare and beautiful photo opportunity's, it's a shame they are no longer working mills.
