Everyday I Write The Book

Tate Modern

Went to see three exhibitions today - Giacometti, Soul of a Nation and Fahrelnissa Zeid. Very different, very powerful. I'd wanted to see Zeid for ages, a little known 20th Century artist she had all those Byzantine influences that I like but with a modern twist. Giacometti is famous and seeing his sculptures was amazing. As for Soul of a Nation it was a quite overwhelming journey of black culture through the anger of the sixties and seventies then onward to an explosion of colour and rediscovery. Totally unexpected journey through a dozen or so rooms.

Don't know if I've ever been so impressed by a trip to a gallery. And the South Bank today was really nice, earlier we had had drinks and street food behind the Festival Hall before spending a really chilled few hours with The Yoga Mama up in North London.

Great day out, even allowing for the chaos of Waterloo (and chaos it is). I took this shot in the new Blavatnik Building which is a work of art in itself.

Can't wait to go back ...
