ALL AMONG THE BLOOMING HEATHER

Having seen some lovely blips of the heather's vibrant colour this summer, we headed up onto the North Yorkshire Moors, not far away, and indeed it was heart-liftingly gorgeous! I went for a walk in it and started up some grouse (extra) who were probably glad they weren't on a shooting estate, since we're one week into the grouse shooting season.

We had a slightly negative moment when we (I) pulled into what we thought was a place where we could stop and have our picnic, and badly grounded the car going over a very deep kerb which we only saw at the last minute. Never mind; we drove gently home with no apparent trouble apart from a couple of strange rattles and rumbles and we'll get our lovely garage to check it out next week.
