Party time

Today has been devoted to daughter, as its her 40th Birthday. The plan was to call round early afternoon, meet middle son and DiL there, then we were all off to Worsley Old Hall for drinks and a meal. We didnt anticipate the M6 Thelwall Viaduct being closed due to problems with its expansion joints .....!! Poor Son and DiL left Congleton at 12.30 called to collect daughters birthday cake for us, and set off.....eventually it was clear they were well and truly stuck! We took daughter to the venue and had just got our first drink when son text to say they had finally got through and would be at daughters in 10 minutes, this was 4.30!!!! I jumped back in our car, drove back to collect them and then we drove back to Worsley. The birthday cake survived fairly well, considering it was stuck on Sons lap in a hot car for 4 hours!! Ive added an extra....you can see where it melted and stuck to the box :-(

Daughters fella came to meet us all too, a first for him and us, a bit daunting I should think lol!!! He's really nice and we all got along great.....we had a great time, daughter really enjoyed herself, plenty of fizz, as you can see here, popping the party poppers her brother gave her, with three big pink balloons....no hiding how old she was either !!!

The food was lovely, the cake was enormous, we gave a quarter of it to the waitress for the staff to share!!! The top of the cake was covered in old fashioned sweets, miniature gin bottles and strawberries, all daughters fav things! We eventually headed back to daughters house around 10.30pm.

Yesterday Hub and I went into Manchester to see Sheridan Smith in Funny Girl......she was just fabulous, so talented!! Thoroughly recommend it if you get chance!!!

We are out all day tomorrow meeting friends for lunch...more food, so unlikely to blip... hopefully a quieter weekend to come ;-)
