Today's the day .............................. for a life's ambition

There were so many shots that I could have blipped today.

It was one of those days when the weather was good for photographs and we saw some interesting things - like the Anderton Boat Lift. One of the so-called Seven Wonders of the Waterways, it is an ingenious contraption for lifting boats between the Trent & Mersey Canal and the River Weaver Navigation. But that - and all the other shots of flying herons or narrowboat manoevres will just have to wait for another day.

Today, it had to be the kingfisher sitting so kindly on the mooring rope of a boat. I love kingfishers (ask Mr Longshanks) - and it has always been my dream that one day I would manage to get a picture of one.
