49 Years married today

17th August 2017:

Seems like a lifetime ago since 17th August 1968, and it is.
We were both 22 and had the world at our feet.

We lived in Castlerea, Co Roscommon, in the West of Ireland, and we both had jobs and a place to stay.
What more would anyone need.
We had a two week honeymoon in the South of England, in Cornwall, and it was truly amazing.
Five children and seven grandchildren later we are still as close as ever and we have an adopted home, away from home, in Mzuzu, Malawi, where we have infinitely more dependants, of all sizes young and old.

Mary has never changed a bit and here she is seen with one of our dependants, an old widower, living with his daughter and a squad of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Our task was to bring him a blanket and a few bits of food for the cold season, where it got as low as 7 Celsius, at night, this year.

This is my wife, always caring and generous, who has never changed and tomorrow we will be together 54 years.
