Yet another addiction
When Donald and I popped into Waterstones for a coffee today a man joined the queue behind us but first he placed his gigantic, thick, juicy filofax on a table. I was completely mesmerised by it and so when Donald went off to the toilets I pulled my camera out of my bag and with no hesitation asked this man if I could just please take one photo of it (Donald hates me doing this sort of thing and gets very embarrassed by me). I must say the man was a little perplexed but took my word that I would be posting this as part of a journal. He called it his 'Bible', so there, now you know what a very precious thing it is.
I have always had an addiction (yet another) to filofaxes and the number I have been through is impossible to calculate. I've had itsy bitsy ones and giant ones and many sizes in-between. I've made my own and converted many. I've spent hours punching holes on computer calendar print outs, tables and tabulations that I've made. The sad thing is that the filofax came too late in the day for me to really have a use for them other than housewifery or craft-type things and the last job I had I did get excited thinking there would be meetings and all sorts of exciting and professional things to keep a note of, so I got me (at an expense I could hardly afford) a brand new Large A4 brown leather one and went armed with it proudly to my new job. After sitting for a very short time at a meeting with my new boss he said, "that's a nice filofax for the partially sighted". And the rest of the job was wiping bums and general hands-on stuff.
But I still hanker after filofaxes, which with todays technology seem seldom used.
