No Time

I wish I could say I stopped here for a drink - but I didn't. As usual my time management and time were against me! It doesn't seem to make any difference how I prepare for getting out on time - I never get out on time! Today was worse than usual as it was the day of my rearranged eye appointment - not until 1.40 I had all morning to get ready - easy right? No. I thought I'd go in early and get a few other things I needed. Imagine my horror when I came out of the shower and was putting on my rings and choosing my earrings, and looked at the clock to see it was a whole hour later than I thought it was when I went in the shower! I had 20 minutes to get to Tavistock and find a parking space and get to the optician! Luckily I found a parking space opposite the opticians and the person after me had cancelled - so I could still be seen even though I was late!
Yes I did need new lenses! Funny that! Less funny I am showing the development of eye pressure and therefore glaucoma is waiting down the years for me. So no beta blockers, steroids or antidepressants as they will make the condition worse! But then I have no intention of ever taking such drugs even if needed - nor the other recreational drugs that would also be dangerous! Caffeine is ok!! Phew! It seems cataracts often accompany glaucoma, and the procedure for them also solves the eye pressure issue - good oh!
As I waited downstairs to choose new glasses, I need deeper varifocals and the frames I have are too small to accommodate this, I noticed a traffic warden looking at the cars, he looked at mine and moved on. As I watched he returned to my car - so I ran out to see what the problem was. He was about to write a ticket! I was shocked and told him I'd only been for an eye appointment and had no idea a whole hour had passed  - it hadn't! The machine had obviously only registered one of my 50p coins! So he gave me another 10 minutes. Sadly not enough time for me to chose new frames!
I grabbed my keys and purse  from the opticians and went in search of another space! Of course I got stuck behind a recycling collection van! But I did eventually find a free parking space for which I did not have to pay, but I could only park there for an hour! I also bumped into Friends daughters whonare coming to me for dinner tomorrow! So they got to chose between satay vegetables or a halloumi and aubergine stack!
So - back to the opticians - the first pair of glasses she tried on me were the best! Sorted! They are green! I've never had coloured glasses before and am worried I will tire of them - but we decided green went with all other colours so hopefully I won't find myself in a colour coordinating dilemma! I had time to buy aubergines and meringues for dinner but that was it - the other things on my list could wait! It was time for me to go home!
