Height of summer or autumn approaching?

Today, 15th August, traditionally marks the end of the main French summer holidays.  In reality, the first downturn will come at the weekend with the final descent into normal life coming a week or so later when the kids go back to school.  The weather has been undecided; we might be in  winter or we might be in autumn, each choice seems to be offered on alternate days and sometimes both are offered in the same day.  We gardened.  We sat about. N did exercises to relieve the sciatica which kept her up half the night last night.  There seem to be about one thousand people staying at the nearby gite.  Roll on the end of August.  Extra continues the series of Lentillac doors, this one being the rear door of our barn.
