World Museum

Whilst the inside of the world museum is such an amazing and interesting day out (and you do need most of the day, honestly). We tend to forget what an amazing piece of architecture the building (in fact the whole street- William Brown Street) actually is. Land for the original build was donated by a local MP and merchant William Brown. Around 400,000 people attended the opening of the new building in 1860, enabling them to move from the original site in Duke street. An extension to the original build was added in 1901 and was know as The College of Technology and Museum. Sadly there was quite significant damage to the building during the blitz. Parts of the museum remained closed for over 15 years. During the first decade of the 21st century, the museum was again expanded taking part of the building owned by John Moores University. The museum wasow renamed World Museum Liverpool.
