Matukituki Valley

... from the view point at Treble Cone. Thought I might have a gentle ski today but when we got up there the crowds were enormous. Fresh snow, a sunny day and no wind - what can you expect! Instead we took the chair lift up to the top of the home basin and walked across to the view point. It was quite hard work as the snow was fairly deep in places (snow shoes would have helped) but what a reward! The majesty of the mountains and the glacial valley with its braided river below were well worth the effort. And it was peaceful!
