Wound up in Wexford

A building

After a lie in, and a very slow start, we walked around Old Riga. We were on the hunt for specific landmark buildings. We had just spotted the Black Cat building, see extras, when we looked down a side street, and were much taken by the blipped building. Loved the man reading on the roof.

On the side of the building was a plaque.

"My path of pain and sorrow will not be in vain If the morning of freedom dawns there again.

At the end of World War II, and during the following years many members of The Latvian National Resistance Movement were imprisoned humiliated tortured and murdered in this building. The counterespionage division of the USSR "Smersh" and the special division of the USSR Baltic Military Division are responsible for these atrocities in front of God and all humankind for eternity. "

I've spent a while on the internet this evening, but can find no further information about this particular building.

Riga is a wonderful city, full of architectural gems. Around each corner is yet another building I would like to Blip.

The black cat building was reportedly built by a trader who had been spurned by the Guild, and the cats were situated on the roof with their tales facing the Guild building. They were later repositioned.

If I can, I'll create a Flickr album - but I need to work out how to best do that from my tablet. And I don't seem to be able to hyperlink from the App in the same way as on the website.
