moon in town
We've been in Edinburgh today, in the dreich and the rain and high winds sufficient to prohibit high sided vehicles, caravans and motorbikes from the Forth Road Bridge. I took the point and shoot and pointed and shot, going over the bridge in very grey light, but the car was blowing across the road and all the shots were jiggly (not to say unappetisingly grey). I thought I'd get some good blips on the way home, but it was just as windy and the bridges were disappointingly black. I wish they'd underlight the railway bridge, all that 19th century ironwork... but they don't.
The moon is huge at the moment. Apparently we're 23,000 km closer to it than usual (give or take 5000 km) because of eliptical variation or something - I wish I'd paid more attention to the piece in the newspapers. When we stopped off in St Andrews to get a carryout supper from the Indian restaurant, the moon was sitting on the shoulder of the houses in the high street, looking down.
