Harbour seal

One of the art groups in EK had hired a coach to travel to the Pittenweem Arts Festival, in the East Neuk of Fife.  There were some spare seats and some of us walkers were invited along.

The weather was stunning, a day of wall to wall sunshine and it was nice to walk without being lumbered with all sorts of cardi's and rain jackets.  

The whole of the village seems to take part, and many of the cottages are open with exhibitions, and lots of garages and sheds also.  We had a bite of lunch down at the harbour watching two harbour seals, very interesting.

We walked up from the harbour, and were able to access St. Fillan's Cave, as the key to the iron gate protecting it is available today.  The cave has traditionally been associated with St. Fillan, 7th century missionary to the Picts,  although several saints may have lived as hermits there, engaging with the pilgrims who passed along towards and away from St. Andrews.

We toured the various galleries, and peeped into some of the lovely wee cottages.  I was keen to buy a holiday cottage, but the HG point blank refused (possibly because we don't have that kind of money)..... anyhow I did buy a painting of harbour houses and boats in Pittenweem, and I love it!

After our lovely day we had a nice fish and chip tea, before heading home.
