A Walk and a Swim
Southwold camping trip day 4: Miss I joined me on the early (post-coffee) heath stroll this morning. It's something of a nature reserve, predominantly focussed on rabbits it would seem but also trying to encourage other species. In particular, sand martens are hoped to nest in the sandy cliffs excavated especially for the purpose. Anyhow, the flowering heather is an obvious visual draw and naturally attracted Miss I's camera lens amongst other subjects.
A good while later, the village shop opened at 9, where we were able to exchange copious quantities of cash for all the makings of a cooked breakfast including the noted local sausages, butchered as told by the shopkeeper, only yards along the lane in the direction of Halesworth. She was somewhat purturbed that we'd taken the narrow lane route to the town the previous evening. I confessed to having simply followed the route advised by the sat nav and was none the wiser as to the safer route. Having assured her we would take the 2-minute longer route through the village in future, we said our good-byes and went in search of the gas lighter. I can't be sure, but I'd bet that was pretty high on the list of news worthy stories in the village that day.
Unfortunately, Beloved was feeling even more under par this morning (thankfully not connected to the breakfast I'd cooked). Master H being the sharing sort of child has it seems, passed on the bug. There was only one thing to do, relax and ask the children what they'd like to do in the afternoon. So while Beloved rested in the tent, we went swimming, something which we should do more of. The girls are quite at home in the water and Master H grew in confidence throughout, despite having dunked himself underwater early on due to a slip. He was soon over that and leaping about in the water.
The bolognese wasnt going to make itself, so back to camp we went with Master H counting the cars en-route, to well over 100.
