San Giovanni degli Eremeti
This church was built for King Roger II (yes!) in 1132. Its Norman/Arab design is a great example of the multi-cultural influences of Sicily - the largest island in the very middle of the Mediterranean Sea.
Other great sights on a wander around the Western part of Palermo today were secondhand bookshops, where students were buying their course books in crowds and long queues; the Cathedral; more great examples of street art.
And yet more evidence of the munificence of King Roger II - the interior of Cappella Palatina.
