Time for tea!
This post is, is a manifestation of my Britishness. Although I don't usually confess to being particularly patriotic, this blog is dedicated to one truly great thing to come from our country: tea.
After seventeen days without tea, I finally caved. In case you're wondering why on earth this is such a big deal...well, I arrived here to discover that my flat didn't have a kettle. Adamant that I would manage without the intoxication of the Earl Grey I brought with me and would embrace Iced Tea instead, I convinced myself that I could live without this one key piece of British kitchen equipment. But today. I finally caved. Lo and behold, I woke up this morning wanting nothing but tea. So, my legs carried me to my local 'Chino' (not the trousers but a store found in most barrios here selling literally everything you could ever want for a fraction of the price in Corte Ingles). After searching high and low, my eyes were met by the sight of a small, silver tea pot for a Euro, gleaming from its position at the back of a rather dusty shelf in the store. Unable to look away, it is now in my possession. As I write this, I'm waiting for it to boil (yes, it's an old-school hob kettle) and boy, I can't wait for my first hit of the sweet, intoxicating aroma of Earl Grey. Livin' the dream in 2k12 <3
So now to enjoy this pot and then off for a picnic with some people from my language class!
