Scarlet Tiger
This morning Mum was still feeling poorly, so me and Dad went out together to Tintagel. Apparently there has been a settlement there since Roman times, possibly even earlier. We had a walk around Tintagel Castle (which was mostly just lots of low walls) which is on a large island which used to be joined to the mainland but the land bridge collapsed and there is a wooden bridge instead now. When we crossed over there were loads of foreign students milling around. After we'd seen the ruins we decided to walk over to the nearby church, on the mainland and on the way we started to see loads of Tiger Moths flying around, which is rather unusual. Then, as we were walking along the path we found a small patch where there were at least 30 moths sitting on blades of grass or fluttering around, presumably newly hatched. We were very excited, there must have been hundreds flying around. When we got to the church it wasn't very exciting, although there was a sign in the graveyard saying there might be snakes, we didn't see any.
I've uploaded a few photos of the Tiger moths to Flickr, here's one of the patch where there were about 30
