The caterpillar's head
Believe it or not, this spread of special white & purple edge orchids form part of a sphere that forms the head of an enormous caterpillar in the Flower Dome at the Gardens at the Bay. This is Singapore other 'botanic' garden, a modern one with two moderate temperature glass house domes to show off flowers and other vegetation from more moderate climates. But to celebrate the upcoming National Day/ Singapore's birthday these weeks there is an amazing display of orchids. More colours in the extra plus a shot of the top of one of the 'supertrees'
We went there with friends to have lunch in the appropriately named 'Pollen' restaurant, which is situated at the top of the flower Dome.
I did have time to see and comment on all the Abstract Thursday entries and choose the special ones, thanks so much for indulging me with plenty of veggie abstracts. Onions seemed to be the most captured vegetables ! This coming Thursday we're already in August and so there is no theme on this first Thursday in the new month. You are free to do whatever you like as long as it's a bit abstract and you have fun making it ! Next Thursday's tag will be AT110
Here's the list of special entries:
Green56 for a kaleidoscopic view of onions and a carrot
Pleach for an abstract composition with onions
Happycat for making a bulb of garlic look like a Dali painting
Meancoast for an all natural pineapple abstract
Kevin Maskell for a set of old and petrified runner beans
And I do have 2 Special mentions this week, the first because it made me laugh and the second because I was and am still in awe of the shot:
Greg Lovett for a Dali-esque funny onion and
Alan Rodger's wonderful staircase abstract
Thanks so much for your kind comments and stars for yesterday's fireworks shot !
