Naming names...

Last night, I was out with one of my best friends, Spanish Maria, and eight of her cousins who have come over from Spain for the weekend.

Maria is expecting a baby in early January, and in accordance with Spanish tradition, she already knows that it's a girl.

As you can imagine, there was a lot of very noisy discussion about what the baby should be called. Maria wants a name that is Spanish, but which will be easy for us Scots to say. Her boyfriend Pablo would quite like a Scottish name, but one that would be easy for the Spanish grandparents to say. And the cousins had a million suggestions that weren't easy for anyone to say!

Some of the Spanish names that have been absolutely ruled out, are - Concepción, Inmaculada, and Angustia.

I think she's being fussy....why wouldn't you call your baby Anguished Immaculate Conception!!
