The X-tremely odd factor....
This is Doris, murdering playing Bohemian Rhapsody, and channelling his inner Freddie Mercury.
He won't mind me telling you, that at 28, he had a terrible rugby accident, resulting in severe nerve damage. Consequently, he doesn't walk very well, and his hands don't work properly.
However, this hasn't stopped him from learning the keyboard and trombone (both of which are hard enough to master when your fingers do what you actually want them to do!) and he's never shy of showing off performing for the masses!
Years ago, when he first started playing the trombone, he decided he wanted to busk during the Festival (all proceeds going to Disability Scotland) and had a T-shirt specially printed with 'Hungry and Tuneless' on the front.
So there he was, in the packed High Street one day, giving it his best Glenn Miller.....a crowd had gathered (me and the dog) and suddenly, he was approached by a lady with a microphone and an STV camera crew in tow. This was it - his fifteen moments of fame had arrived! He was thrilled when the woman indicated that she wanted to speak to him....
'Sir', she said, scowling at him, 'Would you kindly stop that noise for a while so that I can hear myself interviewing some musicians!'
Ahh, showbiz can be soooooo cruel.....................
