Mexican Mariachis
Another busy, eventful day when we were both up early trying to organise our rooms upstairs and getting ready for the delivery of the sofa bed. Call came at 9.30 to say they were 20 mins away. So far so good. However, said sofa now sits on its side, downstairs, unwrapped as it was too big to get taken upstairs! We were told it would come in parts and be assembled here, but the only assembly would be putting on the two side arms! Carlos our Peruvian and his team have come in handy sooner than expected and a call to him means the sofa will be entering our house tomorrow in a more interesting way. Watch this space! The rest of the day we both worked solidly until 7pm, did a supermarket shop and then walked out to eat locally. We wanted to go to 'our Italian', where we've been going for 26 years and walked in at 9.40pm to find no customers and the one and only young waiter still putting on his apron. We asked if it had changed and were told 'yes'. New chef too, we asked, 'yes'. No attempt to engage, encourage us to stay or anything, so we decided it wasn't for us. If he'd welcomed us in some way, assured us that the menu was the same or something we'd have sat down. His parting shot as we were walking out was the equivalent of the English 'whatever'. We ate in our local Mexican. Only our 2nd visit, very full but they got us, nice atmosphere, good food and then the the Mariachis arrived!
