Battle of Hastings
The weather forecast has always been bad for today so we were not optimistic of any hot air balloons taking off at the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Eastbourne. Not only did balloons not take off, but there weren't any there at all to take off!!! We started the morning with a very quick blipmeet but this did not follow our usual pattern of coffee/chat, lunch, afternoon tea...with a few photos scattered in between as everyone dispersed after a group photo. There was precious little at the 'Hot Air Balloon Festival', though, actually worth recording on camera so we went off to look at the Fishermen's huts in Hastings - historic buildings, tall and thin, where the fishing nets could be hung up to dry. Interesting.
As we were there the rain started, and it hasn't stopped since, in degrees of severity from heavy to torrential! We returned to our accommodation for tea and scones plus looking at photos and blipping. I doubt the balloon firing and fireworks will go ahead either so that event has (literally) been a bit of a washout. I am not impressed with Hot Air Balloon Festivals - bearing in mind how twitchy they are at the best of times, I think the organisers should have a Plan B!
Tomorrow's forecast is much better so we are planning a look at Brighton before tackling the motorway and the journey home.
