10 days old . . .
This afternoon was the Garden Club summer social at Herbert and Ingrid's house, and what a garden it is! Acres of it! With room for beautiful flower borders, a huge greenhouse, wonderful wildlife pond, masses of vegetables beds, mobile hen coops and several pigeon lofts! Very inspiring and I was very jealous!
The sun did its best to shine, and the marquee managed to stay upright despite the stiff breeze. There was also an amazing spread of food, both savoury and sweet, and plenty to drink too.
The highlight of the visit was seeing Herbert's pride and joy, his racing pigeons. Incredible to think that these birds can find their way from Penzance back to Orkney. This was one of the baby ones that he was trying to persuade Mike and me to take home . . . we resisted, but I was sorely tempted!
