Bell Lyre

We were chatting to one of our regular fellow swimmers (and fellow Yeovil fan) in the outdoor pool this morning who told us that his band (The Street Drum & Band Corps) were playing onthe bandstand inthe park at Wells later.

Needing no excuse to sample a savoury scone or two for lunch in one of our favourite cafes, we headed across to Wells for a traditional British afternoon of brass band music, sitting on plastic chairs in front of the bandstand while sheltering under umbrellas from the intermittent heavy showers! A lot of fellow outdoor pool regulars joined us, making it a sociable afternoon. It bought back memories of boyhood holidays with my Dad who was a big brass band fan and always enjoyed concerts on the prom.
