Sparkly sea at Charmouth, Dorset

Today we woke to sunshine on Portland Bill. Set off for our drive home, following the road along the coast. Stopped briefly for a closer look at the long Chesil Beach. Then moved a few more miles round the Jurassic Coast to Charmouth. Spent a little longer there and enjoyed the sparkle on the sea. Had our eyes peeled for fossils, but failed to find any.

We'd planned a few more stops along the way and were looking forward to a pub-lunch. The bad news is that our car broke down soon after an abortive attempt to make a stop at Lyme Regis. (It was seething and there was nowhere to park, so we moved on.) At that point the car developed a fault and we soon came to a standstill. The good news is that I realised from the signposts that a friend lived nearby - so I gave her a bell and we enjoyed an impromptu rendezvous, while waiting for the towing-truck to turn up.

We're now safely back home and, apart from missing out on a pub lunch, we can look back at a very pleasant few days away. My main blip and Extra are both taken on the beach at Charmouth.
