3 Wainwrights

We arrived in the lakes in gorgeous sunshine. Our first choice of route was closed due to forestry work so we had to find parking in the Whinlatter NP park - an expensive stop at £2 for an hour and 45p every 20 minutes afterwards to a maximum of £8 a day. Anyway even then it was full - private schools and Scottish ones are in holiday now. We waited a bit and got a space and had a nice walk.

There's such a grand variety of walking in the area. When we've come from the south it's been for longer, steeper walks so I'd forgotten how easy it was to get good views within a short time with minimal effort. We did 3 little Wainwrights - at least we were told that's what they were but they were only just over 500m - I must google to find out the criteria for the Classification, apart from the fact he'd walked them. Anyway we did Lord's Seat, Broom Fell (views to Cockermouth) and Barf (views to Skiddaw and Bassenthwaite Lake.)

We are on a small farm site near the Castle Inn where we had a beer on the way back. It's got views of the hills we did today and also of Skiddaw.

Of course I need to use a phone photo and I didn't take many. Here is Mr C with the lake in the distance, from the first top. (How many lakes are in the Lake District? I know not many as most of them are Mere or Water)
