Into Edinburgh early this afternoon to drop Mrs Rex off at Waverley Station before parking the car and heading off to the Mound for a look at what was going on. It was the Edinburgh Festival Carnival apparently...

After a wander round I headed back home in time to see Roger Federer holding the Wimbledon trophy aloft yet again. There is something irritating about him in the way he manages to win and makes it look as though he hasn't broken sweat. Can you really warm to someone who has his own logo?

Another irritating thing is that the BBC revealed the new Doctor Who is female. After several heavy hints in the last series it's finally out there. Why can't the Doctor be a grumpy old grandfather? Oh, wait. He was back in 1963 wasn't he..!?
