Clematis tangutica
This late flowering clematis is just coming out now, having climbed, since spring, about eight foot up and into the ceanothus above. It'll have loads of these flowers now right into the autumn, by which time it will have rambled off across the neighbour's jasmine-covered arch and anywhere else it can get to. You can just about see a bumblebee hidden inside the flower. After a slow start we now have lots of bees, including honeybees, though I've seen far fewer tree bees than in the last couple of years.
