Teazle
Like so many flowers, teazles seem to ration their nectar out by opening the individual florets progressively, in this case resembling the rings around a planet. I haven't observed whether they start at one end or in the middle - it looks as if it might be the latter as nascent florets seem to be waiting their turn on either side of central band. It was a bit dull and cool today for much insect activity, so I didn't see which ones were favouring the teazle with a visit.
