Rock of Cashel

Another fabulous stop on our journey between places.  We drove to Bantry in Cork today, via the Rock of Cashel - a pretty amazing historic site, with buildings dating back to the 1100s.  It's another popular tourist site and there were a few coachloads there, but it was easy enough to get away from the big tours, and we also walked down the hill to Hore Abbey, which had some great views back towards the Rock - and very few other people doing the same.

Checked into our B&B in Bantry late afternoon (lovely, lovely lady running it, who served us up some coffee and tea in the living room and gave us some useful local information - and also told us that the Irish version of Tim's name is Tadhg (pronounced like the first half of 'tiger.'  Like it!) then headed out a little later for some dinner in the town.  Went to a lovely seafood restaurant (O'Connor's) and had a delicious meal - I had scallops and risotto and Tim had the most amazing 'fisherman's catch' fish and chips - which included battered smoked haddock, among other types of battered fish.  SO good!
