Almost 8 o'clock

Headed into Victoria to get some things and more importantly, to meet a friend from uni for lunch.  We hadn't seen him for a long time, and it was great to reconnect.  He was recently in New Zealand playing badminton at the Masters' World Games and lost in the bronze medal match.  His wife played as well and lost to the eventual winner.  They stayed after the games for a holiday and had a great time.  He's having knee problems and had just been fitted with a huge brace to see if it would help.  Aging athletes and their bodies - a price to pay eventually for all those years of competing.
I recently reconnected with a guy that we'd coached in high school, and he was also at the Games.  His team won Gold in Fastball!   A bit hard to believe that former students are now playing at the Masters' level!
