Nicky and her Nikon

Another day in London

We had planned another day in London with my sister - Thomas stayed home but Gavin, my sister and I got the train up to London as I wanted to show her the delights of the British transport system - no sarcasm there, I do really think it is good. So today she experienced a train, the tube and a black cab!

Our first stop was Kensington Palace where I had two tickets to see the palace and mainly to see the exhibition of Princess Diana's dresses (Gavin stayed in the coffee shop attending to emails). I was delighted to see that memorable blue velvet gown that she wore when she danced with John Travolta at the White House, and the stunning beaded dress as per the extra photo. The exhibition was lovely to see but I felt there were too many queues - we queued to have our bags searched, we queued to have our tickets checked (could they not do that at the same time?) and the exhibition was housed in small rooms that only allowed a few people access at a time so there was a queue to enter the rooms.

From there we went to Harrods which was mind blowing as always - do people really shop there? It seems they do, there was a long queue at the Louis Vuitton counter for some reason. Then back in the tube and across town to see St Paul's Cathedral. Another queue to get in and they are charging now so we just admired it from the outside and then walked across the wibbly wobbly bridge to see the views up and down the river.

We needed to get home as the fridge is empty again and we needed a bit of a rest! My sister is only here until Tuesday next week so we are trying to fit in as much as possible.

Luke comes home from Paris tonight - it is a bank holiday there tomorrow and on Saturday it is the 21st party of one of his closest friends, who said the speech at Luke's 21st party and Luke in turn is saying a speech at his party on Saturday. We are also attending the party and are looking forward to it.
